My Relaxer Update

Hello my loves, just thought to do a relaxer update to let you know how my hair has been faring the past couple of days. I got my hair texlaxed on Friday, 29th April, 2016 at precisely 12 weeks post. Prior to that I had experienced some shedding, I think this was due to some stress. Anyway on the day of the relaxer I was unable to prep my hair beforehand because I was going for a meeting and had to prepare for it and had no extra time on my hands.

I texlaxed at the salon with the ORS Olive Oil Relaxer (No lye) kit and it was rinsed out and then washed with the ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo and also the ORS Uplifting Shampoo, I definitely prefer the prior shampoo and how it makes my hair feel. After that I deep conditioned with a mix of conditioners and oils which included the ORS Replenishing Conditioner, Africa’s Best Hair Mayonnaise, Wura’s Secret Deep Conditioner and Shea Moisture Shea Butter Masque as well as a bunch of oils.

I sat underneath the steamer for about 15 minutes and the deep conditioner was rinsed out. I applied my leave-ins which were Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner and Shea Moisture Castor Oil Lotion, to seal I used some coconut oil. I also applied my Wura’s Secret Hair Growth Oil to my scalp.

My hair was then blow dried, I experienced more shedding than I would have liked during the process, I also got some relaxer burns on my nape, I have to be careful to nurse them so that this does not lead to a setback. However I did achieve good length retention (I was quite pleased with my ends), my hair is filling up and growing nicely and I did not trim my ends in line with the hair growth challenge.

So from here on out I need to make sure I take very good care of my ends to have them in tip top shape and to keep following the rules of the challenge to makes sure my hair grows as much as possible.

What have you all been up to hair wise? If you have any questions or comments do share and I will be glad to respond.

TONKABELLE, xoxo

“No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God . . . and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven.” - Orson F. 1. Thanks for your comment dear KLP, the castor oil lotion is quite lightweight and acts as a heat protectant so I use it on wash days. All in all I prefer the curl & style milk and I may not repurchase the castor oil lotion once I am through with it.

  7. Nothing much with my hair these days. I have been wearing wigs, but deep conditioning weekly, and moisturizing daily.

  8. So nice your texlax came out nice, i am still struggling with getting a balance on how to get a consistent texlaxed result. I recently texlaxed my hair and it was a failure, my hair processed more than i wanted, more like it relaxed instead of texlaxed. Although i used a new relaxer, i usually use ORS Lye relaxer but tot to try Silk Element Lye relaxer (my failed texlaxed is on my blog too). I am hoping i get hang of it.
